Behavioral Screening and Intervention - Everyone Wins!

Director for the Wisconsin Initiative to Promote Healthy Lifestyles (WIPHL)

Behavioral risks and disorders are responsible for 40% of deaths, $300 billion in healthcare costs, and $600 billion in additional expenditures yearly in the US.  Dr. Brown will discuss the mission of the WIPHL which is to enhance delivery of behavioral screening and intervention (BSI)services in health care settings throughout Wisconsin. Screening and intervention for tobacco, alcohol & drug use, depression, obesity, diabetes, hypertension and lipid disorders can improve outcomes for patients and reduce health care costs.  Dr. Brown will discuss how WIPHL can assist providers in implementing BSI programs and how data can be used to measure outcomes.
